Gavin Rossdale plays Bush hits at London gig
Gavin Rossdale played his debut UK solo show last night (June 12) at Camden's Underworld.
London-born Rossdale, who now lives in Los Angeles with wife Gwen Stefani, played a set packed full of hits by his former band Bush, including 'Swallowed' and Glycerine'.
Taking to the stage with his band just after 9.20pm (BST) Rossdale, wearing a black shirt and silver chains and basked in a red light, launched straight into Bush song 'Machine Head'.
Before the second track Gavin nodded and smiled to the gathered crowd asking: "Hello, you alright?"
After playing a few more tracks, which saw the already clearly excited crowd chanting back word-for-word, a now sweat-drenched Rossdale told the crowd: "It's been too long, it's real good to see you."
Then Gavin took off his guitar and pulled the mike off the stand to perform new solo song 'This Is Happiness'.
Then after another two solo album tracks Rossdale said: "Thank you, I just want to say a special hello to all my friends who came down - all the locals."
Then the band launched into Bush's biggest UK hit, 'Swallowed', that saw Rossdale show off his guitar skills with the solo near the end.
Before the encore Rossdale said: "I played here with Bush when we were coming up and I love this place." He then launched into a spine-tingling rendition of his old band's hit 'Glycerine', which received an abundance of cheers.
The band joined him again and after another two songs an obviously touched Rossdale, now drenched head to toe in sweat but still smiling, said: "Thank you so much. We look forward to coming back to play to you in London real soon, if I had my way. But thanks for coming out we appreciate that."

Old NASA footage shows space program in new light

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - High definition is not
just a way of making video look crisp and bright. It also is a
reason for making programs -- maybe the reason -- as "When We
Left Earth" suggests.
One can say, as the Discovery Channel does in its press
materials, that this comprehensive and authoritative six-hour
miniseries running June 8, 15 and 22 was produced to mark the
50th anniversary of NASA and the U.S. exploration of space. In
reality, though there is abundant history on the space program,
there is scant information that hasn't already been seen, heard
or written somewhere else.
What makes this mini different from all those other
projects is that, for the first time, we get to see rare NASA
footage -- sort of like the space agency's home video -- which
was removed from cold storage and transferred to high
definition just for this project.
And what footage it is. Not merely breathtaking space and
launch photos but clips that reveal the risks, danger and
anxiety of NASA employees and astronaut wives at each new
venture.
It is so simple and certain in hindsight but the NASA films
show the palpable tension in Mission Control, such as just
before Apollo 8 emerged from the dark side of the moon and
broke out of lunar orbit. Other highlights include training for
the unexpected, fiery rockets and the cool blue of an Earth
rise seen from the moon.
In between clips of vintage NASA footage (more than 100
hours of old film was converted to high definition for this
project) are bits of recent interviews with astronauts and
flight directors, often recollecting events of decades past as
if they had just happened that morning.
Like the space capsules themselves, this mini speeds
through its mission. Each of the first three hours, for
example, are spent, respectively, on the Mercury, Gemini and
Apollo programs.
Tune in to learn about the strategy of each launch and for
those amazing vintage films. Keep in mind, though, that with
the focus so squarely on NASA, there is little reference to
other concurrent but related events, such as domestic politics
or the Cold War.

Pigeon Detectives reschedule shows after singer injury
The Pigeon Detectives have announced new dates for the Irish gigs they were forced to cancel last month.

R Kelly - Former R Kelly Employee Identifies Singer On Sex Tape
A former employee of R Kelly claims to have recognised the R 'n' B star in a video allegedly showing Kelly having sex with an underage girl.
The I Believe I Can Fly star is accused of filming himself engaging in sex acts with a girl who prosecutors say may have been as young as 13 at the time.
And Lindsay Perryman, his former personal assistant, told jurors at the Chicago trial that she was "110 per cent" sure that he was the man seen in the footage.
"I did not want to believe it was Mr Kelly," Ms Perryman told the jury.
"I think so highly of him and his family, they have been so good to me."
The 26-minute video allegedly showing Kelly and an underage girl was shown to jurors at last week, with Cook County prosecutor Shauna Boliker warning the jury they would see footage of an "underage child performing sex acts that you have never seen before".
Ms Perryman said that, should the man in the video be proved to be R Kelly, she would be surprised as it would signify out-of-character behaviour.
"I have never seen him being inappropriate," she explained.
"He treated me and the people who worked for him well."
The singer's legal team claims that the video depicts neither Kelly nor the alleged victim.
Kelly's lawyer Sam Adam Jr described the tape last week as "at best a copy of a copy of a copy" and claimed that neither the FBI nor "a single witness" could conclusively identify his client as the man in the tape, according to the Associated Press news agency.
Bennie Edwards Jr, a cousin of the alleged victim, said the video "favoured" the allegation that his cousin and Kelly were the people shown in the footage but said he could not say for certain.
The trial continues.

Simpson set to make country record
Jessica Simpson has moved to Capital of Tennessee to begin work on her number one country album.
Speech production to Hoarding.com around her decision to record a country record album, Simpson said: "I am a land lady friend. I grew up in Lone-Star State, and nation music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a rural area album, merely I wanted to wait until the time was right."

By the clock time 1999 rolled around, the band was opening for Killer and had their number one headlining American circuit. They released Litany in 2000 and Reign Forever and a day Public in 2001, both on Alloy Blade, and continued their operose touring agenda. Revelations arrived in 2002, followed by Creature in 2004, and Impressions in Rake in 2006.

Cerys and Marc criticise 'misleading' footage
'I'm A Celebrity...' couple Marc Bannerman and Cerys Matthews have claimed that their relationship was edited in a misleading personal manner on the hit demo.
The pair became close in the jungle last month followers a series of incidents where they were seen to flirt with from each one other.
However, Matthews has at present insisted that their romance was made to look more significant than it was by producers of the realism TV designate.
She told OK! magazine: "It was edited to make it look like we were doing things 24 hours a day, when we weren't. We hadn't even kissed! People said we snogged in the jungle simply it was only a goodnight osculation on the face."
Bannerman added that any footage of any of the campmates could be mixed to evoke that they were more than friends.
He said: "It's been built up as approximately love life narration merely it wasn't. The love tarradiddle could've been with anyone - [Saint Christopher] Biggins, Rodney [Reginald Marsh] or J [Jason Brown], they were all pretty tactile."
Bannerman and Matthews ar currently staying together at the ex-Catatonia star's home in Wales where they ar believed to have spent Yule together.
